Truth Or Dare

Empowered

In Loving Memory of my Mother Kimiko

You were my life's special gift,
and will forever continue to be.
You left me with incredible times
rare unforgettable memories

Taught me many valuable lessons,
shone in the wisdom of your eyes.
Wonderful insightful family traditions,
further to carry me through my life.

Not a day goes by when I don't
think of you, and all we meant
to each other.
Now I must finish my journey alone
travel the future's path,
with the knowledge I've gathered.

Daily I miss watching the world
brimming through your eyes,
genuine love touches those around
us much more than we realize,
yearning to return to our happier times.

Knowing you wouldn't wish for me,
mourning such saddening sorrow.
But grasp the rest of my living life,
happiness into precious tomorrows.

Embark, create and leave behind
my very own unique legacy,
empowered in each breathing moment,
as if you were right here beside me.

Truth Or Dare

For My Daughter Asia

Dare I tell her about young love?
How his eyes will subtly absorb her in,
how his kiss will send wild tremors
through her soul, leaving her vulnerable.

Dare I tell her about mind over matter,
broken hearts, shattered dreams,
a daily slap in the face of reality?

The distance I'd go to protect her virtue,
holding her captive like a caged white
dove, imperatively waiting for freedom.

Dare I release her into a world polluted
with school shootings, gangs, drugs,
bullies, con artists, rapists, jealousy,
greed, wars, and the devil running rabid?

Do I stand back silent, letting her
believe in a utopian world, or tell her
that true love can one day be beautiful, and
how some dreams are forsaken for others?

Dare I tell her of motherhood's bond, and
how life's infinite wisdom will finally come
to revelation, the very moment she stares into
the innocent eyes of her first newborn child.
