The
Poetry Of Terry McDermott
FROM THE
ADVENTURES OF THE HUMAN CARDINAL
Blue Tornado Boy ran away from Brooke Meadow Lane because Benny
the Bat scolded him for messing up. Where will he end up?

Benny
the Bat and Seahorse City
Spinning through the universe
Blue Tornado Boy
Came across a billboard
"To Seahorse City."
A place of enchantment
Where buildings and streets
Were made of marble
And the roses never withered
Among the pearly clouds
Lived the mighty seahorses
The Blue Wonder smiled
For the first time in many days
"This will be my new home,"
He shouted within his mind
Yet unknown to him
Evil was lurking about
Among the townspeople
Kent Cool was in disguise
And he saw the Blue Wonder
Flying in the sky
Blue Tornado Boy now faces danger!
The red birdman and gang don't know where he is.
Can he face Kent Cool alone?

Blue
Tornado Boy Meets Kent Cool
All the townspeople cheered
Blue Tornado Boy
The famous sidekick
Of the Human Cardinal
He was filled with joy
Until he saw Kent Cool
The tie-dyed hippie wrestler
Who held the golden belt
Then his swirling mind
Had a brilliant ideal
He would fight Kent Cool
And become Universal Champ
A superhero in his own right
He would become
Without his uncle
Or the little green bat
Will the Blue Wonder be able to defeat
the greatest wrestler in the universe?
Will he transform from sidekick to superhero?

Live
From the Aquarium
Every Tuesday night the Human Cardinal,
Benny the Bat, and Officer Mick Maroon would go to Mr. Mintdrop's
candy store and watch the wrestling matches. The announcer \would
say, "Welcome to The Aquarium! Live here in Seahorse City,
where those majestic seahorse fly among the clouds."
The three were shocked when the main event
was announced. "In tonight's main event, Kent Cool will
put up his golden belt against Blue Tornado Boy from Brook Meadow
Lane. Also tonight's main event is sponsored by Uncle Pluto's
Orange Soda, and Babylonian Chocolate Milk."
As the bell rang
Kent Cool's head was spinning
The Blue Wonder was too fast
For the tie-dyed hippie
The champ passed out
Fell to the mat like a rock
And Blue Tornado Boy
Went for the three count
All of Brooke Meadow Lane
Were in the streets cheering
For their favorite son
The new champion
Yet all good things cease
The seven-foot viking
Derek the Red appeared
Making a challenge
What will our new champion do?
The Human Cardinal and Benny cannot help
him?
Can he stand against a seven- foot viking?
Stay tuned!
