The
Poetry of Abhay Kumar
Impressions
I was always there
As the blowing wind
Or the falling leaves,
As the shining sun
Or the flowing streams,
As the chirping birds
Or the blooming buds,
As the blue sky
Or the empty space
I was never born
I did not die

It's
a beautiful evening
It's a beautiful evening and
You are sitting at home
While I walk in the streets alone
Thinking of you
The sky is turning red and
Cold wind blows into my face
Trees stand by in silence
And birds fly back home
While I walk in the streets alone
I am going to the café
As we always used to go
Walking side by side
While the Sun went down
Now I miss you by my side
While I walk in the streets alone
It's a beautiful evening and
You are sitting at home
While I walk in the streets alone
Thinking of you

Shadow...
You are nothing but a shadow
Of the man you used to be
Something unknown hollowed you!
Where are your principles?
Not to let the power be abused
To defend the underdog!
Where are your convictions?
In equality liberty and fraternity
A better future for all!
Where are your ideals?
To achieve beauty and truth
In your words and actions!
Where are those promises..
You made to yourself ?
To guard the interests of those voiceless
On whose behalf you speak!
Where is that courage to stand up?
Against the wrongs
Where is that zeal to serve?
You have sold your soul
And you are nothing but a shadow
Of the man you used to be!
