NEW HAMPSHIRE BARNS

These barns were photographed on a stretch of road from Newport to Lebanon, NH. There are many beautiful barns in New England. Sadly, many of them are no longer functional or are being taken down and rebuilt in other locations. Although there are still many working farms, many of the old barns seem to be falling down from a lack of maintenance or just plain old age.

One telling feature of their importance in the past is the fact that many of them are larger and sturdier than the homes they stand beside. It is not uncommon to find a standing barn beside a foundation of a home that has long since collapsed.

The New England Barns are a fading symbol of what 'Made in America' use to stand for. Quality workmanship that was carried out with pride and built to serve more than one generation.
