The Poetry Of Terry McDermott

My Heart Was Never Full

From the Adventures of Derek the Red

(Derek tells his story)

Fame was mine
Known
All over the Universe
But
My heart was never full
Defeated all the best fighters in the known galaxy
A champion
Who reached the peak of success
Yet so unhappy
I heard about Tulip Town
And those stones
That come from the tulips
You say old man that the stones are free
Still I realize that it will cost me something
The old man told him the price
Derek stood silent ... tears flowed upon his red beard
A journey complete

More to come next month.
